Sewing Camp

Let's get SEWING this summer! Come learn to hand sew and sew on a machine. We will be learning the basic fundamentals of sewing. Beginners camp will be from 9AM-12PM and Intermediate Camp will be from 2PM-5PM. Class understanding requirements are in the descriptions below. If participants have a sewing machine please have them bring it. If not we can provide them one. There will be smaller groups of 15. Limited space is available. Sign up Now!

Sewing Class Objectives

  • Students will recall, name, and label the parts of a sewing machine and will demonstrate how to properly tread one and how to use it safely for sewing

  • Students will construct projects that showcase their understanding. They will explore their creativity, experiment with fabric choices, colors, and patterns, and develop design skills to create unique and personalized sewing creations.

  • Students will develop confidence in their sewing abilities and problem-solving skills. They will follow a pattern and compare their newfound knowledge to what they already knew.

June 17th - 20th
9:00AM to 12:00PM

In this introductory class, children will be exposed to the basics of sewing. We will talk about the different types of fabrics, how to properly align and pin the fabrics for their projects, what a sewing machine is, how to use one safely, and how sewing machines can be a tool to enhance the sewing experience. Children will be able to apply these skills while creating their own simple projects. They will receive step-by-step guidance while still having plenty of opportunities to express their creativity. By the end of the course, we will have covered many valuable skills that can last a lifetime. No prior sewing experience is required. All materials and equipment will be provided.

June 17th - 20th
2:00PM - 5:00PM

This course is designed for those with basic sewing skills who want to expand their knowledge or for those who want to move at a more accelerated pace. Children will have the option to cut out their own patterns if desired. We will talk about different fabrics and seek to understand how certain properties work well in specific projects. We will review proper machine use and will mention the basics of pattern reading. Under guidance, students will be encouraged to enhance their sewing proficiency by making corrections to their projects if needed. By the end of the course, we will have covered some intermediate sewing concepts that can have a lasting impact. Suggested that the student be familiar with basic sewing skills. All materials and equipment will be provided.
